Canada Post issues special 'Year of the Snake' stamp

14 Jan 2013

Printed on trusecurity postage stamp paper, Canada Post marks the Year of the Snake with a duo stamp issue. This is the fifth pair in the extremely popular series that recognises the Chinese Lunar New Year.

Foiling and rich, strong colours have been used to echo the luxury that the snake treasures. The red snake on the domestic issue (as can be seen in the image) is featured to emulate it gliding upon water. The International feature includes a yellow and green snake that is gracefully coiled in a figure of eight - the luckiest number in Chinese culture.
